Two persons lost their lives in a road accident that took place at Namti area in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Saturday evening.

A speeding Pulsar bike knocked down five persons at Dhodar Ali area at Namti on Saturday.

The five persons who have been seriously injured were immediately taken to Sivasagar Civil Hospital for treatment.

However, the doctors later asked for the five of them to be transferred to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

Among the five persons, two of them lost their lives in the hospital while the three of them are still in serious conditions.

The deceased persons have been identified as Alhaj Maulana Dawood Hussain and Matu Begum.

The rider of the Pulsar bike has been identified as Maina Gogoi hailing from Adarsha village in Samguri.

Three persons – one girl and one boy – were pillion riding on his bike while he was riding to his home.

Meanwhile, locals of Dhodar Ali area severely protested against the incident.

They claimed that many road accidents have been happening in the area lately which had claimed lives of a number of persons.

Moreover, they also claimed that many miscreants have been witnessed to be carrying out several crimes in their area.

They have also claimed that the police have not taken any action against those responsible for these untoward happenings in the area.
