Troops of Assam Rifles nabbed an NSCN (IM) cadre at Dimapur along with arms and ammunition.

During an operation, the troops of Assam Rifles based in Nagaland apprehended the cadre, belonging to the Isak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Social Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM), on Monday.

The Assam Rifles troops were also able to recover a pistol along with ammunition and incriminating documents from the possession of the NSCN(IM) cadre.

The security force personnel later handed over the NSCN(IM) cadre to the police for further investigation.

Sharing this on Wednesday on their official Twitter handle, the Eastern Command of Army stated: “Troops of #AssamRifles in an #Op apprehended a NSCN (IM) cadre along with firearm & other incriminating materials in Dimapur, Nagaland on 14 Oct.”

“The apprehended along with recovered items have been handed over to Police for further investigation,” it added.

It may be mentioned that security forces continue to apprehend cadres of the NSCN(IM), which is in ceasefire with the government, from time to time for allegedly violating ceasefire ground rules.

An 11-member delegation of the NSCN-IM on Tuesday had a meeting with the chairman of the Ceasefire Monitoring Group (CFMG), Nagaland, Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan at the state VIP guest house in Kohima.

During the meeting, they dwelt upon ceasefire monitoring and other ground rules.

It is said the meeting ended on a positive note.

As per media reports, the meeting focused on the ground rules, particularly the ceasefire violations that crop up between the NSCN-IM and security forces.
