Ashis Bhowmik from Tripura has been selected as the chief pitch curator of India.
This is for the first time when any person from the state has been selected as the chief of any kind of committee of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Recently, BCCI has announced new committee of pitch curators.
The ten member pitch curator committee will look after all the pitches in India.
Ashis Bhowmik has been selected as the chief of this committee.
All the other curators will work or maintain the pitches under his command.
Ashis Bhowmik while talking to Northeast Now expressed his feelings after being selected as Chief pitch curator of India.
He said, “No doubt it’s a hard and challenging job. I got every support and blessing from former chief pitch curator Daljit Singh.”
“Since last 22 years I am learning from him. And while I was selected on his post it means it will be challenging,” Bhowmik added.
Ashis Bhowmik also said, “While I am selected and I am from Tripura, a small state that means where from you come that doesn’t matter.”
“I wish our players may feel this thing. If you can do something better then where from you come doesn’t matter a lot,” he also added.
Ashis Bhowmik is from Tripura and worked as the pitch curator of Tripura Cricket Association.
Earlier he was BCCI eastern zone pitch curator.
Ashis Bhowmik also played first class cricket for Tripura.
He was a well-known fast bowler in state club cricket.
Since 1997 Ashis Bhowmik has been working as a pitch curator.
He made a pitch curator manual for BCCI and BCCI has been following this manual for the new comers in this field.
Recently India played with South Africa at Pune.
Pune pitch has also been prepared by Ashis Bhowmik.
After being selected as the chief pitch curator Ashis Bhowmik has been congratulated by the sports loving people of the State.
