Sikkim BJP president DB Chauhan said the BJP-Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) alliance will win all the three seats in the upcoming by-polls in the state.
Chauhan while addressing a press conference at Gangtok on Sunday said the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party and other independent candidates will not come in the race in this by-poll.
The Sikkim Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president expressed that the people of all the three constituencies going to bypolls have shown their full support towards the BJP-SKM alliance.
He expressed full confidence of winning all the three seats and said the alliance would provide ‘double engine’ government to the people for fulfilling all their all hopes and aspirations.

“This byelection is not to form the government but to protect the interest of Sikkim and its people as the state already has a strong government of the SKM party and there is the government of the BJP in the Centre,” he said.
BJP MLA and party spokesperson Raj Kumari Thapa also expressed her confidence that the BJP-SKM alliance would win all the three seats in the upcoming by-polls in the state.
Poklok-Kamrang, Martam-Rumtek and Gangtok Assembly constituencies in Sikkm will go to bypolls on October 21.
MLA Thapa expressed that the victory of the BJP-SKM alliance will be the victory of the people of Sikkim.
She stated that the BJP would work continuously in the interest of Sikkim and its people.
Responding to media queries, Chauhan said the BJP is not allowing the Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) to use its slogan ‘Sikkim is not for sale’.
He said, “This slogan of the HSP is totally wrong as how anyone can sell Sikkim. It is an attempt to deceive the people of Sikkim.”
Chauhan added, “The HSP without the support of the people will get the answer from the people on October 21.”
He alleged that it was a nationalist sentiment and separatist thought of the HSP.
Responding to other media queries, Chauhan stated that the BJP has been working with different regional parties for the people of different states.
“We understand the local ethos and sentiments and we have been working in the national interest with full concern and respect for local sentiments of the people of Sikkim,” he said.
He informed that ahead of the byelection, a senior BJP leader and union sports & youth affairs minister Kiren Rijiju will come to Sikkim on October 17 and will speak further on the issue.
On another query on rumours that the BJP would seek cabinet ranks after the by-polls in the state, Chauhan refuted the rumours and stated that power-sharing is not in the domain of the state unit of the party as it is a matter of high command of both the parties.
He further said, “The BJP will extend its full support to the SKM government in its tenure of five years.”
On pre-poll violence in Poklok-Kamrang, Chauhan stated that the BJP never supports any violence but always works in the democratic value.
