Speaking about Redmi 8, Sharma said, “The new Redmi 8 comes with a dual-camera setup on the back, aided by artificial intelligence.”

“The setup houses a 12-megapixel main camera with 1.4 micro pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, and Sony IMX363 image sensor,” Sharma further said.

“The secondary shooter is a 2-megapixel depth sensor to help with the portraits,” he added.

The new Redmi 8 also includes AI Scene Detection and Google Lens support with an 8-megapixel AI selfie camera on the front.

The new Redmi 8 is loaded with a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support along with a rear fingerprint sensor, and Face Unlock support.

The new Redmi 8 sports the original Aura Mirror design of Xiamoi and will be offered in three colour variants- sapphire blue, ruby red, and onyx black colours.

“There are plans to bring an Emerald Green colour option on a later date,” Sharma informed.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC, the new Redmi 9 paired with up to 4GB of RAM, and up to 64GB of onboard storage.

Redmi 8 will be offered two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB and will be priced respectively at Rs 7999 and Rs 8999.

Celebrating the 100 million Xiaomi smartphone sales in India, the company will ship the 4GB RAM variant to everyone including the 3GB RAM customers at just Rs. 7,999.

This offer, however, will be available for the first 5 million orders.

Redmi 8 will go for sale on October 12 at 00:01 am via Mi.com, Flipkart, and Mi Home stores.
