Asom Sahitya Sabha election process began on Sunday and the candidates can file nominations on October 3 and October 4.

They can withdraw their nominations latest by October 7.

Senior advocate and Asom Sahitya Sabha election officer Bijon Mahajan announced this on Sunday while addressing the media at Sahitya Sabha Bhawan in Guwahati.

Mahajan further informed staring on Sunday, the model code of conduct (MCC) will also come into play.

According to the MCC, no candidate will be allowed to announce any policy decisions or canvass for oneself.

It was also announced that members of every district and branch committees of the Sahitya Sabha will be able to cast their votes via post from November 1 to December 10.

The election results will be announced on December 15 at the executive meeting of the literary body in Hojai.
