Rain and thunderstorms may play spoilsport in India versus Oman FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifying match in Guwahati on Thursday.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted a few spells of rain or thundershowers towards the evening on Thursday.

The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm and as per the forecast, the spells of rain could also start at around the same time.

This is India’s first match in the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualification round and these matches also serve as joint-qualifiers for AFC Asian Cup 2023.

India has never won a match against Oman in a FIFA-recognised match.

The hosts lost both their matches to the visitors during the qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

If rain happens to play spoilsport and the match is called off, the points would be shared between the two teams.
