As Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) fund to undertake compensatory afforestation efforts and other activities for preserving the environment, the Manipur government received Rs 309 crore from the Centre.
The cheque was received by Manipur forest and environment minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar on Thursday from the Union minister for environment, forest and climate change Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi.
“It is a major boost for the environmental conservation and protection activities in Manipur for combating climate change,” said Shyamkumar.
The environment ministry of Thursday released over Rs 47,000 crore to 27 states for compensatory afforestation and other green activities, including prevention of forest fire, biodiversity management and soil conservation.
