The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress on Saturday released the lists of candidates for Assembly polls in Tripura slated for February 18.
While BJP has fielded 44 candidates in Tripura, Congress will contest in 57 Assembly seats in the forthcoming election.
The list of BJP was announced by central election committee secretary of BJP JP Nadda after a meeting at BJP headquarter.

Saturday’s meeting of the central election committee was held under the chairmanship of party president Amit Shah.
The meetings was attended by stalwarts of the party including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and all other members of the party’s central election committee.
The lists contains as many as seven sitting MLAs and two Ex MLAs.

The party has come to a pre-poll understanding with all smaller parties in the state including the IPFT for the 60 member Assembly seats.
