Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal  on Monday appreciated the noble gesture of Special Olympics Champion swimmer Anyatam Rajkumar who donated Rs 5000 to the Chief Minister Reliefโ€™s Fund in order to help the flood affected people in the State.

Sonowal stated on his official Twitter handle,โ€ Touched by the gesture of Special Olympics champion swimmer Sh. Anyatam Rajkumar as he donated ? 5,000 to Chief Ministerโ€™s Relief Fund for flood relief measures. Anyatam is an inspiration to our society & I salute his indomitable spirit. My best wishes for his future endeavoursโ€.

Anyatam who was affected by Down Syndrome since his birth won a gold medal in swimming  in Special Olympics World Summer Games at Los Angeles in 2015.

A resident of Guwahati, Anyatam also bagged a silver medal at the Special Olympics Asia Pacifc Games in Australia in 2013.

He was a former student of South Point School of Guwahati

Eminent gastroenterologist Bhabadev Goswami  on Monday contributed Rs 1 lakh to the Assam Chief Minister Reliefโ€™s Fund.

The cheque of Rs 1 lakh was handed over to chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Janata Bhawan on Monday.
