Arunachal Pradesh education minister Taba Tedir in the presence of agriculture minister Tage Taki on Monday inaugurated the ‘Student Police Cadet (SPC)’ project for various government secondary and higher secondary schools of Lower Subansiri district at the Abotani Hall.
SPC is a school-based youth development initiative that trains high school students to evolve as future leaders of a democratic society by inculcating within them respect for the law, discipline, civic sense, empathy for vulnerable sections of society and resistance to social evils.
Addressing the newly inducted student police cadets, Tedir said that the programme initiated by the Central government also provides an opportunity to the students to know your police and instill a sense of respect for the men in uniform.
“You will have to be the eyes and ears of the police since the police have their own limitations and cannot be present everywhere,” the minister said and advised the students to take the project seriously.
Tedir added that the SPC will go a long way in inculcating discipline, empathy, integrity and patriotism among students.
Minister Taki who also spoke on the occasion expressed hope that the programme would help mould the students into law abiding citizens while SP Dr Hemant Tiwari highlighted the main activities under the SPC project.
The SP informed that in all 80 boys and 70 girls from several schools of the district would be trained as SPCs.
Among others deputy commissioner Chukhu Takar, DDSE Hibu Tama, EAC Priscilla Tayeng and several other police officers and teachers from different schools attended the programme.
