Following the outbreak of dengue in Bangladesh, a red alert has been sounded in Tripura.

A top official of the Tripura government on Monday said that the administration has sounded a red alert in eight districts of the state.

“Following the outbreak of dengue in Bangladesh, we have issued an alert in all the eight districts,” The Hindu reported quoting secretary of Tripura health department Debasish Basu.

“We have also launched an awareness campaign and made arrangements to fight the disease,” Basu further said.

With a confirmed 15369 cases of dengue reported since January 1, this is one of the worst dengue outbreak in Bangladesh.

So far, 9683 patients have been diagnosed in July alone.

Bangladeshi PrimeMinister Sheikh Hasina recently held an emergency meeting for tackling and mitigating dengue outbreak.
