Several organizations have come out to support the flood affected people in different parts of Assam.
The CSIR-NEIST Jorhat also carried out distribution of relief items for the flood affected people in Malow Pam village of Jorhat district on Saturday.
The CSIR-NEIST Jorhat team distributed food and several other essential items among members of 200 flood-hit families of the village.
The distribution of flood relief was inaugurated by Dr. G. Narahari Sastry, director of CSIR – NEIST Jorhat at Malow Khat village in Jorhat.
“We distributed food items such as rice, dal, mustard oil, potato, onion, biscuits, baby food, clothes and other essential items like candles among the flood affected people,” a CSIR-NEIST Jorhat official told Northeast Now.
Meanwhile, in the patronisation of Maheswar Land: a Riverine Tourist Resort and with the help of Majuli Tourism, Ygdrasill Bamboo Cottage, T.T.G.A.M., Ananta Enterprise, a relief distribution programme – Let’s Help Together – was held in Majuli on Saturday.
As a part of the programme, educational instruments were distributed among more than 150 students of Salmara High School.
Along with the students and teachers of the school, some of the locals and representatives of the Majuli District AASU were present.
