Boxer Lovlina Borgohain has brought laurels to Assam and the country by winning gold medal at Magomed Salam Umakjanov Memorial International Boxing Tournament in Russia’s Kaspiysk on Saturday.
The Assam boxer, who hails from Goalaghat, faced Italian boxer Assunta Canfora in the final and defeated her 3-2.

Informing about her win, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) on its Twitter handle stated: “Lovlina Borgohain ends her Umkhanova boxing tournament campaign with the gold medal as she defeated Confora 3-2 in the final.”

It may be mentioned that Lovlina had suffered defeat at 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament 2-3 against Confora.
She won silver medal in the 2nd India Open Boxing Tournament held at Guwahati.
However, Lovlina has been able to reverse the India Open score line in Russia.
After winning bronze medal in Strandja Cup, this is the first international gold medal of the year.
India’s Neeraj also clinched gold medal while Gaurav Solanki won silver medal in Kaspiyok.
