Govind Singhal, the prime accused in the Shweta Agarwal murder, was sentenced to death by a fast-track court in Guwahati on Saturday.

Apart from Govind, his mother Kamla Devi Singhal and elder sister Bhawani Singhal, both accused of the murder, were also sentenced toblife imprisonment.

The three accused were convicted on Wednesday (July 31).

Shweta Agarwal, a 5th semester BCom student of KC Das Commerce College, was murdered on December 4, 2017, in Guwahati’s Shantipur area.

Prime accused Govind, during the investigation, had confessed to the murder.
